Advice for a big pack for homelessness/temporary displacement/no vehicle
If you really, truly, need it to be 100% waterproof, I'd go for 40-50L dry bag backpack, there's plenty out there. Thanks for sharing this. 25lbs/11kg is a lot and I would want something with a load transferring harness like the Osprey Farpoint/Fairview 40, REI Trail 40, or ULA Camino. I am comfortable with 7-8kg without a hip belt. Distance and duration count. Many travel packs are used for airport to lodgings

FarPoint/FairView old vs. new side-by-side comparison
Just my thoughts: I had the Farpoint 40L and then changed to Osprey Unisex Sojourn Porter 46L. It's already a huge game changer to hide the Hip-Belt.. it has more advantages but fast YouTube search explains it better. If someone looks at the Farpoint/Fairview look at the Sojourn Porter.
