I can't speak for the Canon; I shoot full frame Z bodies, 80-90% corporate/industrial video and some corporate stills/product shoots. The little Z50ii is my little gimbal monster though - it punches way above its weight/price. Nikon simply didn't cripple the thing in any meaningful way. It lacks in-

The Nikon, the kit lenses are better and Nikon didn't bring the cripple hammer to the Z50II so it gets the full range of automatic AF capabilities from the Z9. But it's not by a lot (OK, the lens is a lot better, the body less so), they're both very good.

Nikon would've broke the bank with how much something along the lines of a z500 would sell. Correct me if I'm wrong, but z50ii proves that there's still demand for aps-c mirrorless bodies. D500 is one of the best cameras that nikon has ever made in my opinion, and a mirrorless alternative with ibis

The Z50ii is Nikons best APSC body right now, it's more than enough for most things. If you want to do more video focussed stuff then maybe a Z6III would be an options as it's a great hybrid body but it'd also very expensive
