The Surface Pro 4 was compatible with the Surface Pro 2017 and SP6 screen assembly with a new LCD flex and transferring the old N-trig touch controller board, despite the SP4 being different in almost every other way. So I wouldn't dismiss the idea just yet. A few years ago I pulled apart a Surface

It's definitely pricey. When I bought my Surface Laptop 5, I actually went with the 16GB/512GB version to cut cost - then I upgraded the SSD to 1TB myself. It turned out perfect. I bought the Kioxia SSD per Microsoft's 1TB spec and it saved me $450. I have to decide if I want to want to do something

Even Adobe is getting better. I use Photoshop (native) and Lightroom Classic (x64 emulated) and both work really well on my SL7. LrC is actually faster on my laptop than on my wife's SL5 (Intel 12th gen). Currently Illustrator, inDesign, and Premiere Pro are all in "beta" on Arm (x64 emulated). Have

Microsoft is offering a buyback of old surface devices when you buy new from them. They also price match other major retailers. They valued my SL5 at $700, which I thought was awesome. So I purchased a new Dune SP11 for $999 and a keyboard pen combo for $219. Then I price matched the SP11 from Walma

Specifically for the tangent I mentioned "Copilot features (which now probably Microsoft regrets specifying 16GB as the minimum)" they surely find 16GB now too high, as they've been pushing now for what, the third "year of Copilot+ PC upgrade" only to have in the works a Surface that isn't Copilot+

Same thing happened on my SL5 except I’m in an endless boot loop. Microsoft wants $600 to repair it, no thanks. It’s a corrupt bios from a Windows update.

Frankly I can't remember last time seeing a surface laptop "in the wild" and that includes universities. Not that they have Macs, but literally any other of the popular/"regular" laptop brands. The Pro (tablets) are relatively common in mostly any class. However, with the latest years (actually quit

I've done it on a 13" SL3. It was a piece of cake. Take off the feet (you'll likely need to replace these--Microsoft sells them, or you can use just about any stick-on feet), unscrew the four mounting screws hidden under the feet, then gently remove the keyboard (which is held on by magnets). A guit

I love linux but my Surface Laptop 5 decided to give up on me. Its not charging and the firmware updates using fwupd are unreliable for surface devices. I am being forced to use Windows. Fuck Microsoft. Im going to install windows again using a recovery image today. Then I’m gonna sell it and buy so
