OK, there's a bunch of layers here. 0. VIA and VIAL and ZMK Studio are open source. If the QMK or ZMK source is published and up to date you can build and flash a new image, and modify it. If it's a pure QMK/VIA or QMK/VIAL board you can either self-host your own copy of the VIA or VIAL repo. Same w

I upgraded to the Keychron J2 HE from my old Huntsman Tournament Edition, and the difference is night and day. As confirmed on the box, it features TMR just like the rest of Keychron's HE lineup. Immediately, my keystroke accuracy improved. I realized my old Huntsman had a defect causing dropped inp

Sensor doesn't matter really, the magmech sockets in the Fun60 might if you want the option to back out to electromechanical switches if magnetic doesn't cut it for you... but you can get whole other 60% keyboard for the price difference, and probably better software too. I would wait until the Keyc

Keychron J2 HE. https://www.amazon.com/Keychron-Keyboard-Hot-Swappable-Ultra-Fast-Non-Shine-Through/dp/B0GD7FLJFF The cheapest QMK firmware magnetic board you can get. They have told me they will be releasing the source code.

Get a Keychron J2 he. It's relatively inexpensive particularly for a Keychron, it's got a great layout, and it's got TMR sensors and qmk firmware.

I would personally not buy a product from a dodgy company because they are unlikely to provide satisfactory service if anything goes wrong. Their fake "QMK" web app that is the actual fraud is not very good. If I was getting a magnetic board right now I would get the Keychron J2 he without hesitatio

Get a QMK board so you don't get "helpful" keyboard software preventing you from changing "system" keys. Particularly for a 60% board because you can use mod-tap to create a virtual arrow cluster. Any QMK board has 1k polling. Faster than that doesn't really help. For a magnetic board the best optio

Keychron J2 HE 8k It's Keychron so the firmware is QMK based, not some random proprietary code base. The source is not yet online but they say it will be within a month, and I've tested the source for the electromechanical version and it works.

Keychron J2 HE or J8 HE. They are by far the most affordable qmk magnetic boards available. And the J2 has basically the ideal 75% layout.
