Xfinity doesn't charge for modem rentals anymore, so it doesn't save money to switch to one's own. Just place the Xfinity provided modem in bridge mode and use one's own router that does allow DNS editing, it's how I do it. I have an Asus RT-BE92U for mine, as it has a 10gig WAN port meaning I can s

I am using M1 (now acquired by SIMBA) for almost 4 years and recently recontracted to 6GBPS + ASUS RT-BE92U for $36.90. (Delivery & Installation was smooth and professional.) Current HomePac 6Gbps ($27.90) + ASUS RT-BE92U (+$9) = $36.90 too. I have never need to call their customer service in past 4

Same, I upgraded my AX3000 (still a solid Asus router) to the BE92U and got a ton of recurring wireless connection drops. Turning off WiFi 7 helped but I still think it’s a trash router. Went UniFi and never looked back. Rock solid performance and zero connection drops in months.

I use a Kiwi K4 strap and an AMVR faceplate. I'd recommend them both. Most people recommend Bobo VR products. I also consider my router a must have upgrade. I have an ASUS RT-BE92U BE9700 and Virtual Desktop to go along with it.

You are going to struggle to find a single router that is going to cover the entire house, especially from the basement. Can you run an ethernet cable up from the basement to the upper floors? This really is your best solution to either relocate a single router in the most central location you can o

I recently upgraded from a RT-AX86U (basically the WiFi 6 version of your router), and I purchased 2 x RT-BE92U, one as a router and one configured as a separate access point. The primary reason for the upgrade was to get access to the 6GHz band for a Quest 3 VR headset. Playing PCVR games via WiFi

The problem with the ASUS was confirmed when I returned it. Apparently those BE92U were a coin flip on duds - connection randomly dropping happened even in same room. Speeds when it worked was pretty nice. I'm not looking for 2gig wifi. I'm looking for 2gig hardwire and just this decade wifi LOL

As stated below, you can use your service's router as just a modem and then get a router. I went with a Netgear modem because my wife's work required a "landline", which severely limited my choices. I have also used Netgear modems prior to that and have been very happy with each new purchase. DOCSIS

If your only wireless use is for Iot devices, is consider an Asus be92u. You can create a dedicated IoT ssid for additional security. You'll then have three channels to configure as you want, either one unified ssid,or one for each band. On sale this regularly drops to about 170.
